Lincoln - A Hidden Jewel!

Visit Lincolnshire and Stay in a Luxury Pine Lodge

As spring jumps into action and the sun finally begins to show its face, many of us will begin to think about taking short-breaks away. While Lanzarote certainly has its appeal, there is so much to do here in the beautiful UK. Lincolnshire is one of those hidden jewels – a lot more than just flat farmland, heading north in the county, you encounter rolling hills, farming, fishing and lots of great wildlife. To add to this you’ve got ideal cycling country, with traffic limited and long roman roads.

What makes Lincolnshire an appealing holiday hotspot is its tranquillity, a unique environment and uncrowded accommodation. Accessible from the cities of the East Midlands and only an hour from London on the train you can explore the beautiful City of Lincoln and its Gothic Cathedral, once the tallest building in the world, until its spire blew down in 1549. The infamous steep hill is packed with boutique shops and cobbled streets - not for the faint hearted! There is a wonderful Roman wharf in the city centre, surrounded by restaurants, where you can relax to all types of cuisine and even take boat rides down the old Roman Fosse Canal.

But where to stay? City accommodation may be convenient, but to really appreciate Lincolnshire, you need to get out in the country! Rural Roosts is a great place to stay if you’re looking to explore both the rural and urban. Based in Stainfield just 10 miles from Lincoln, these glorious luxury pine lodges are set on a working farm. In the spring you can witness calving, and lambing as well as a wealth of local wildlife. Owls are frequent visitors and the site even has its own bird hide, so bring your binoculars...

The pine lodges also encircle a large lake, ideal for a fishing holiday or for just lazing on those summer days. What Rural Roosts boasts however, is 4* self-catering accommodation with that extra touch. Many of the lodges have hot-tubs, you can order breakfast boxes, practice yoga, enter their annual photography competition or order champagne and flowers, it’s the little things in life that make the difference!

Additionally, if you are wondering about what to do with the dog, then don’t – Rural Roosts hosts dog-friendly accommodation so that you can bring man’s best friend along for a lovely walking holiday if you so choose.

So, this year instead of booking a holiday to some Spanish resort, why not visit Lincolnshire and enjoy a short-break in a luxury pine lodge with a hot tub, within distance of the historic city of Lincoln.
